We have to make choices every day. Some choices are simple, some complex, but both can be life changing. I feel like I’ve had to make many choices in my time here on earth. Some I regret, but the one thing that has remained is my faith in God. A God who forgives and heals. A God who changes people hearts and helps them see the reason He made them, if they are willing to be used for His will. I made the choice to follow Jesus when I was 9 years old. I am only human and have faltered many times since then, especially in college. I made the decision to be baptized two and a half years ago as a symbol to my family of my commitment to follow Jesus and show them how important that decision is to me.
I always attended church, but never really studied the Bible until the last ten years. I read The Story, by Zondervan last year. It was really amazing to me to see the chronological order of the events in the Bible. It gave me a whole new perspective of how events and people are intertwined throughout the Bible. I am currently reading the Bible from the beginning. I felt like I knew the stories pretty well, but I have learned something new every day! It’s fascinating. I don’t always understand, or agree with everything I have read, but then I am reminded that there is a greater being who understands far better the course and path lives take throughout history. I am humbled when I think of how very small we are in the universe, but how big a difference we can make in the life of another human being. Whether it be a family member living in my home, or a complete stranger who I can sponsor halfway around the world, I know I can make a difference.
My family and I felt lead to start attending a new church recently. We were surrounded by awesome and Godly friends at our previous church, but since we’ve been attending NewSpring Church, I have become an owner and am volunteering in production, but the thing I’m cerebrating today is my son’s decision to follow Jesus Christ. He is the same age I was when I consciously began my journey as a Christian. I know he is young, but we made a promise to raise him to know Jesus and I am so thankful he has made the choice at such a young age. Without my faith, I would not be alive. Jesus has been with me when I felt like I had no one else.
If for no one else, God created me to make an impact on my family. That is where I am now. Crafting our life, finding meaning in everyday moments, celebrating everything big and small. Trying to find peace in a world that does not make sense. And using our gifts to make the world a better place.
